on the local bus to avoid parking problems and stress - travel is also remarkably cheap.
The best sandy beaches are east of Nerja 30-40 minutes drive away, though Torre del Mar and other local beaches are also very popular.

Close to the outskirts of Los Romanes where Cortijo Barranquero is situated there are great walking tracks.
There are five good restaurants in the area, two of them within easy walking distance.
May to Sept is Fiesta time and there are always plenty of fiestas going on in one of the local villages during this period.
